Overview of Reliability Process
The overall goals have been to implement integrated processes and a software system to improve Equipment Reliability .
Overall Expectations include:
- Provide greater visibility and leading indicators for equipment condition via improved equipment monitoring, data collection, and reporting.
- Improve decision making by integrating reliability information
- Continuously improve the effectiveness of equipment maintenance via analysis of scheduled and completed maintenance activities.
Our model contains 6 major sections :
- Scoping and Identification of Critical Components
- Performance Monitoring
- Corrective Action
- Continuing Equipment Reliability Improvement
- Long Term Planning and Life Cycle Planning
- PM Implementation
Scoping and Identification of Critical Components
Determine the System, Structure and Component functions important to maintaining safety, relaibility and site/plant performance. We assist in defining the critieria to use to define the scope of equipment to be evaluated and provide the criteria and weightings for assessing the importance of Systems/Structures?Components.
Performance Monitoring System
Establish performance methods and critieria. We assist in defining appropriate performance measures related to failure modes that may impact the function of the System/Structure/Component. We develop a Monitoring Plan and identify the indicators which can be used to measure the performance. We can also define the appropriate ranges of acceptable and non-acceptable performance. We also can assist in capturing the readings against these indicators, trending these readings and defining the methods of communicating non-acceptable performance.
Corrective Action
A goal for the reliability is to limit unexpected failures. We assist in capturing the incidences of unexpected failures and providing methods for assessing why the failure occurred. We have developed a useful Double Filter Review process focused on identifying unexpected/repeat failures.
Continuing Equipment Reliability Improvement
This is a process of regular assessments about the efficacy of the Equipment Reliability Program. We assist in providing a framework for optimizing the Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Programs and the framework for associating these programs to the known failure modes for Systems/Structures/Components.
PM Implementation
This is the area for establishing the tasks and frequencies that are expected to limit failures and enhance relaibility. Traditionally, our clinets utilize a Computerized Maiantenance Management System (CMMS) for this. We assist in ensuring that the CMMS results are utilized throughout the Continuting Equipment Reliability Improvement Area.
Long-Term Planning and Life Cycle Management
This area is used to focus on a longer horizon of opportunity to improve reliability. We assist in the determination of net present value and payback of long term/capital improvements.
